Consultant Services

 Chorus America’s new Consultant Services Program provides consulting services to chorus (organizational members) by conference calls, webinars, and on-site meetings, if necessary. The program makes available the extensive knowledge and experience of professional consultants to our members across North America. Consultancies are intended to be learning opportunities for everyone involved.

 Chorus America’s roster of consultants is comprised of professionals with years of experience and a diverse range of expertise in arts, governance, and non-profit administration. Consultants are required to participate in ongoing professional development in order to maintain their status on the roster.

 Consultations are limited to one per year per member chorus, are estimated to provide up to 6 hours of consultant time, and do not include any follow-up paperwork or time beyond the scheduled consultation, both of which may be negotiated directly with the chosen consultant if desired. Costs for an onsite visit include a $500 fee (paid prior to the visit), as well as the consultant’s accommodations, travel, and meals. Fees for telephone/web consultations are negotiable.  Consultants can provide the following services that include, but are not limited to:

  • On site workshops or phone/web consultations with topics ranging from artistic planning to board development to strategic planning;
  • A facilitated assessment of the organization with board and staff;
  • Examine your organization’s participation issues regarding audience, artists, board, or many other areas
  • Facilitate a staff or board retreat

 Consultancies can be focused around these areas:

  • Strategic Planning
  • Board Development
  • Fundraising
  • Artistic Planning
  • Marketing

Funding and Grants

 Funding for services by a consultant may be available throughout the year for members through a Consultant Services Grant. Consultant Services Grants are available year-round members, primarily small- and mid-sized, to request professional consultant services.

 Generally, members may receive one grant per fiscal year (subject to review, approval, and availability of funds).  Requests must be made six weeks in advance of the proposed consultancy. Members are encouraged to speak to a representative from Chorus America before submitting your request. Funding is available by application only, subject to review, on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are expended.
