What Works Today When It Comes to Recordings for Choruses

Session Type
Special Event/Performance
Session Subtype
Breakout Session

This session will focus on the artistic considerations in making a recording. Should a choir perform differently in front of microphones than in front of a live audience? Does the wider availability of recordings via iTunes and youTube influence repertoire choices? Do choral recordings need to have a video component? And how do you factor the ways in which people listen today into the decisions you make? A panel of artistic directors with recent and successful recordings will respond to these and other important questions in this breakout session.

Moderator: Roger Sherman, President, The Gothic Catalog; Artistic Director, Orcas Choral Society
