The political landscape in Washington, DC continues to evolve daily. Chorus America needs to hear from you: How are the federal government’s actions affecting your work? All stories of specific impact are welcome. Please share your experience here. Thank you to those members who have already shared their stories with us.

Visit our Government Affairs Resource Page for more tools.

These government affairs updates are provided for informational purposes only and are not intended as legal advice. Nonprofit arts organizations should consult with legal counsel for guidance specific to their circumstances.

Spread the Call to Action!

Did you know that you can share Action Alerts?  Sharing our NEA Action Alert link widely within your organization or community can significantly amplify your collective voice. Congressional offices do track the number of messages and calls on specific issues, so the more people who participate, the greater the impact.  Plus, tax-exempt organizations are allowed to participate in advocacy and lobbying (with limits).  Make your voice heard with legislators!

If you’ve already taken action — thank you! Now is the perfect time to:

  • Forward the Action Alert to colleagues and friends.
  • Post the link on social media or internal communication channels.
  • Encourage others to customize their messages to make them even more compelling.

Together, these small steps can lead to big change!

What We’re Watching:

Congress returns to DC next week and will focus on the FY26 Appropriations, which will determine funding for the cultural agencies (NEA, NEH, IMLS), the Smithsonian, the Kennedy Center, and more.  In addition, the Senate will be picking up the One Big, Beautiful Bill (aka the Tax Reform package) that the house passed earlier this month.  Finally, the White House is expected to send Congress a Rescission Package which will include a list of Congressionally-funded programs that the White House wants to defund.  Stay tuned!
