Carter Miller

Originally from central Texas, Carter Miller (they/them) is a PhD student in musicology at the Bienen School of Music of Northwestern University. In 2021, they graduated with a BM in music history from the Schulich School of Music of McGill University. Their writing has been published by Nota Bene (Western University, Ontario), Amazing Moments in Timbre (ACTOR Project), and How To Classical (WQXR), and their research more broadly focuses on issues of race, gender, and sexuality in North American classical music during the twentieth century. They are also the Lead Musicologist of New Muses Project, a DEI-focused collective which advocates for the performance, education, and scholarship of composers from historically underrepresented identity groups.
