Aisha is a social entrepreneur, dedicated to empowering youth by using music as a tool for social change. Aisha is the Co-Founder and Chief Program Officer of the Atlanta Music Project (AMP). The Atlanta Music Project provides world-class music training and performance opportunities supporting youth growth and development. Operating in under-resourced communities, Atlanta Music Project’s mission statement is to empower youth to realize their possibilities through music. Aisha is passionate about using music to create opportunities in communities that have been historically under resourced.
At AMP, Aisha leads programming for 800 students at 4 sites throughout Southwest Atlanta, GA. The Atlanta Music Project’s youth ensembles perform over 60 concerts annually and have graced some of the finest stages in Atlanta, to include Mercedes-Benz stadium, Spivey Hall and the Atlanta Music Project Center for Performance and Education. With over 20 years of experience as an arts educator and arts administrator, Aisha has developed a unique skill set that allows her to cultivate meaningful relationships with the organization’s stakeholders. As Chief Program Officer, Aisha leverages her expertise and network to manage key partnerships for Atlanta Music Project, to include the City of Atlanta Department of Parks and Recreation, Atlanta Public Schools and Clayton State University.
She holds a Bachelor of Music Education from Howard University and is an alumna of the Sistema Fellows Program. A collaboration between New England Conservatory and TED, the Fellowship trained gifted musicians and educators in nonprofit management and music education. Aisha is honored to be a member of the 2016 Class of the Atlanta Regional Commission’s Regional Leadership Institute. Prior to her work in the nonprofit sector, Aisha was an award-winning public school music educator with DC Public Schools and Cobb County Public Schools.
Aisha’s work has been featured in publications of Chorus America and the National Association of Music Educators. She has served as guest speaker at Verizon Communications, Inc., Berklee College of Music, Morehouse College, Emory University and Spelman College. Aisha lives in the Atlanta area with her husband and two young children.
