Concert

Listen to a recording of the concert courtesy of Minnesota Public Radio

The Opening Night Concert was a celebration of many of Minnesota’s fine composers and featured a number of the region’s wonderful choruses, including the Minnesota Youth Choir Consortium of more than 200 young singers. The performance culminated with a new commission from composer Stephen Paulus, sung by a massed choir of the featured ensembles.

The Opening Night Concert was broadcast live on KSJN 91.1FM in the Twin Cities.

The concert was sponsored by Target, the National Endowment for the Arts, the Curtis L. Carlson Family Foundation, and the General Mills Foundation.

The Paulus premiere was commissioned for VocalEssence and Chorus America in honor of the 2012 Chorus America Conference by Classical Movements, Inc. as part of the Eric Daniel Helms New Music Program.
