The St. Louis Children's Choirs

For 47 years, The St. Louis Children’s Choirs have transformed lives through musical excellence. At home in St. Louis, in prestigious performance spaces such as Carnegie Hall, The White House, and Lincoln Center, or abroad through their 14 international tours, the Choirs delight and inspire audiences with a love of singing, community, and professionalism. Dr. Alyson Moore began as SLCC’s new Artistic Director in summer 2023. Her vision deepens the Choirs’ musicianship training for students, expands efforts on community building, both within the Choirs and around St. Louis and the U.S., and provides a dynamic new aesthetic for concert production and artistic collaboration. Last season, Dr. Moore’s first with SLCC, our singers presented more concerts for more partners and audiences in one season than ever in the organization’s history—28 different presentations for a total of 80,374 audience members.

This year, core programming has expanded to welcome more families and today, SLCC is comprised of nearly 400 young singers ages 6-18 across six different ensembles. Our singers are grateful to be the official children’s choir of the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra. In addition to our primary rehearsal space in Creve Coeur, four new ensemble locations have been launched: three weekly ensembles in University City at COCA, and one in Edwardsville, IL, on the campus of SIUE. Dr. Moore’s new musicianship curriculum is rooted in Zoltán Kodály’s pedagogy philosophy of “learning through play.” And, in alignment with SLCC’s decades-long commitment to providing tuition assistance to any family that may make a request, the organization is projected to award more total assistance this season than ever before. In June 2025, Dr. Moore will make her Carnegie Hall debut with The St. Louis Children’s Choirs, in one of the organization’s largest tour performances featuring SLCC singers ages 9 through 18, alumni singers, parent singers for an unforgettable world-class musical event!
