The Bach Society of Saint Louis

The Bach Society of Saint Louis (BSSL) is St. Louis's oldest continually running semi-professional choral society. Founded in 1941, the BSSL boasts a rich tradition of bringing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and other renowned classical and contemporary composers to life. Under the direction of Dr. A. Dennis Sparger, BSSL delivers varied and unique programming each season, including at least four Masterwork concerts and the St. Louis Bach Festival each spring.

The BSSL is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of music lovers by providing free concert tickets, educational concerts and masterclasses to local high school and college students. Education and outreach initiatives include the Finding Your Voice Free Lessons Program, Bach & Jazz and the Young Artist Scholarship Program.

Now in its second season, our Bach Talk podcast has engaged audiences far and wide with several episodes among the top 10% of most downloaded podcasts. BSSL has received wide acclaim including recognition from BBC Music Magazine on its list of “Top 20 Live Christmas Events in North America.” Learn more at bachsociety.org
