William White appointed Music Director of Seattle Chamber Singers

William White has been appointed Music Director of Orchestra Seattle and the Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS). OSSCS is a unique performing organization comprised of volunteer instrumentalists and singers who concertize as a blended ensemble, a "chorestra". Specializing in the oratorio repertoire, this group of over 100 musicians also performs early music, operatic repertoire, chamber music, and world premieres. Maestro White's background in both instrumental and choral conducting (4 years as assistant conductor of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and May Festival, master's degree from Indiana University in Orchestral & Opera Conducting, director of several church choirs) is a perfect fit for this combined position. The season begins Saturday, October 6, and focuses on the music of Lili Boulanger; one of Boulanger's major compositions will appear on each of five concerts throughout the season; an annual performance of Handel's Messiah, and a joint performance of Britten's "War Requiem" with the University of Washington School of Music round out the season.
