Wendy Boucher Named as Interim Executive Director of the Girl Choir of South Florida

FORT LAUDERDALE (January 15, 2014) – The Girl Choir of South Florida (GCSF) is pleased to announce that Wendy Boucher will step in as Interim Executive Director during the organization’s search for a new Executive Director, effective immediately. In this role, Ms. Boucher will provide administrative leadership during the transition and – in partnership with Artistic Director Wallis Peterson – enable the Girl Choir to fulfill its mission of transforming girls’ lives through musical excellence. The position of Executive Director was previously held by Anne Sallee, who has resigned from the Girl Choir to pursue other professional opportunities.

“We’ve begun the search for our next Executive Director,” said Allen Giese, President of the Board of Trustees, “and we are grateful that Wendy will be providing the continuity of leadership and organizational stability that our singers, families, staff, and audience members need while the search goes on. With Wendy on board, we are well-positioned to search for and engage the most qualified candidate.”

“The GCSF is well-known locally and nationally for outstanding performances and an exceptional music education program,” said Ms. Peterson. “I am looking forward to working closely with Wendy during our leadership search as we continue to expand the Girl Choir’s ability to serve our community.”

Ms. Boucher previously served as Executive Director of the Girl Choir during the 2010-2011 season. She is an award-winning visual artist as well as the co-founder of the StoryBucks.com web site for writers, and she has experience in small business management and the practice of law. She is also a member of ArtServe and Funding Arts Broward. Ms. Boucher holds an undergraduate degree in art from Southern Oregon University, a master’s degree in political science from Portland State University, and a doctoral degree in law from Cornell Law School. Her daughter is a member of the Girl Choir, and her husband sings with the Master Chorale of South Florida.

The job posting for the position of Executive Director is available online at girlchoir.org. Interested applicants should send a cover letter and resume – including a summary of demonstrable accomplishments and personal references – to [email protected].

The Girl Choir of South Florida transforms girls’ lives through musical excellence. The Girl Choir regularly presents concerts at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts and as part of many concert series throughout South Florida, and its multi-level program of ensembles gives each chorister sight-reading, ear training, and vocal production skills while developing artistry and teamwork.
