Te Deum is thrilled to announce the creation of a new artistic leadership role: Assistant Rehearsal Director. The Assistant Rehearsal Director will work alongside Executive & Artistic Director Matthew Christopher Shepard to lead sectionals and rehearsals in preparation for performances.

Matthew Shepard recently announced that long-time Te Deum singer Jon Duncan will be serving in this role: “I am thrilled to have Jon be Te Deum’s first ever Assistant Rehearsal Director. Jon has been singing with Te Deum for the past 8 seasons. He understands who we are, what we’re about, and where we want to go. Jon has exceptional musicianship skills and I am thrilled to have him serve Te Deum and his fellow singers in this way.”

Jon will continue singing in the choir while serving in this leadership role, starting in August: “Singing with Te Deum has always been a critical and meaningful part of my musical life. I’m honored to step up in this new capacity and help our ensemble continue to thrive.”

About Jon Duncan: Jon is the Choir Director at Shawnee Mission South High School in Overland Park, Kansas, and has previously taught at Indian Woods Middle School and Hocker Grove Middle School. He received his BME and MME from the UMKC Conservatory. His teachers have included Charles Robinson, Ryan Board, Aidan Soder, Raymond Feener, Joseph Parisi, Dwayne Dunn, Elise Peterson, Erin Smith, Kathy Bhat, and Karen Flaschar. Outside of choral music, Jon enjoys taking care of his houseplants, raising Pokémon, completing puzzles of all genres, and enjoying the KC foodie scene with his partner Luke.
