San Francisco Mayor, Ed Lee, declared Valentine's Day 2012, Tony Bennett Day

The celebration was in honor of the 50th anniversary of the song "I Left My Heart in San Francisco," which Bennett first sang in the Fairmont Hotel's Venetian Room, 50 years ago to the day.

During the ceremony, Bennett wiped away tears as a specially assembled children's choir –comprised of the San Francisco School of Arts, the San Francisco Boys Chorus and the San Francisco Girls Chorus – performed a version of the song. Afterwards, Bennett told the audience, "I've never seen anything in my life as beautiful as these young people."
