Resound Ensemble is thrilled to announce Dr. Ben Riggs has joined the ensemble as Artistic Director.
Resound Ensemble is a group committed to performing a wide variety of musical genres, and therefore is excited to bring on a Director with Dr. Riggs’ broad experience. Dr. Riggs was most recently the Artistic Director of Twin Cities Gay Men’s Chorus in Minneapolis, MN. He has also served as the Artistic Director of both the Denver Gay Men’s Chorus and the Boulder Chorale, a 120-voice volunteer mixed chorus in Boulder, CO. An experienced church musician, Dr. Riggs currently serves as the Minister of Music at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Oakland, CA. As a performer, Dr. Riggs is a founding member of Firesign Vocal Quartet, a Denver-based professional vocal quartet, and performed with The Singers—Minnesota Choral Artists, a professional choral ensemble under the direction of Matthew Culloton.
“The members of Resound Ensemble are not only exceptional musical performers, they also embody a profound sense of community that enlivens and excites everyone who hears them sing,” says Dr. Riggs. “Resound’s commitment to artistry and community has been nurtured the past seven years by the outstanding musical leadership of Luçik Aprahämian, Terry Alvord, and Founding Artistic Director Ryan Connolly. I am honored and humbled to follow in their footsteps as incoming Artistic Director of Resound Ensemble.”
Dr. Riggs holds a Bachelor of Music in piano from Wheaton College Conservatory of Music, a Master of Music in choral conducting from the University of Colorado-Boulder, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Choral Literature and Performance from the University of Colorado-Boulder.
Resound Ensemble is a community of singers sharing intimate, engaging performances with audiences in the San Francisco Bay Area. They are committed to an eclectic repertoire that connects today’s audience to the human experience through song.
