Pacific Chorale releases new recording "Frank Ticheli: The Shore and Other Choral Works"

Pacific Chorale has launched a new recording entitled: “Frank Ticheli: The Shore and Other Choral Works.” Distributed on the Delos label, it became available for digital download November 5th on iTunes and Amazon.com, with a CD release scheduled for November 19th.

The recording includes the collected choral works to date of Southern California composer Frank Ticheli, most of which have never before been commercially recorded. The featured work on the program is the choral symphony “The Shore (Symphony No. 3)” which was commissioned by Pacific Chorale in honor of Artistic Director John Alexander’s 40th anniversary season. The world premiere performance took place at the Renée and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall at Segerstrom Center for the Arts in Costa Mesa on June 1, 2013, with Alexander conducting Pacific Chorale and Pacific Symphony.

Additional works on the recording include “Earth Song” and “There Will Be Rest,” performed by the 140-voice Pacific Chorale, as well as “The Song Within,” “Constellation (Three Poems of Sara Teasdale),” and “Here Take This Lovely Flower,” performed by Pacific Chorale’s 24-voice chamber vocal ensemble, the John Alexander Singers. “There Will Be Rest” and “The Song Within” were both commissioned by Pacific Chorale.

“Frank Ticheli: The Shore and Other Choral Works” has been made possible in part by funding from Phillip N. and Mary A. Lyons, Hans and Valerie Imhof, Lenora Meister & Salt-Away Products, Inc., the National Endowment for the Arts, and The Shanbrom Family Foundation. The recording is dedicated to the memory of Dr. Edward Shanbrom.
