Aug 11, 2025 | Charlotte, NC – One Voice Chorus of Charlotte (OVC) is proud to announce Michael Franzoni as its new Executive Director. Franzoni, a seasoned arts administrator, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to advancing choral arts accessibility and representation.
“We are deeply grateful for the foundational leadership of our inaugural Executive Director, Micah Deer, whose passion and dedication has helped shape our organization,” said OVC Board President Matthew Barbour-Kluttz. “We’re thrilled to welcome Michael to the helm of OVC so that we can continue to build upon that strong legacy.”
Franzoni joins One Voice Chorus of Charlotte after a successful tenure with the Gateway Men’s Chorus in St. Louis, MO, where he demonstrated exceptional leadership in various roles, including Operations Director and, most recently, Executive Director. His innovative contributions range from expanding Gateway’s grant profile and rebranding efforts, to creating engaging programming and new membership initiatives. Also a skilled musician, Michael composed and arranged nearly two dozen pieces for Gateway. Franzoni brings a pragmatic and creative perspective that aligns with OVC’s mission to celebrate queer lives through song.
“As the new Executive Director of One Voice Chorus of Charlotte, I’m honored to support the region’s vibrant and inspiring LGBTQ+ community,” said Franzoni. “This is an incredible opportunity to expand on OVC’s foundation of fostering connection and inclusion through music.”
One Voice Chorus of Charlotte has been a vital force in the area’s LGBTQ+ community since its founding in 1989. With a commitment to artistic excellence and social change, the organization continues to increase understanding and acceptance of queer individuals through impactful performances and community events. Under Franzoni’s leadership, OVC aims to deepen its engagement, welcoming more supporters and performers from all walks of life.
“Michael’s expertise and vision make him an outstanding choice to lead our chorus into its next chapter,” said OVC Artistic Director Cory Davis. “He brings not only strategic acumen, but also a clear passion for music as a tool to transform and unite. We look forward to furthering our mission of diversity, inclusion, and uplifting lives in our community through song.”
One Voice Chorus is a registered 501c3 nonprofit choral organization dedicated to showcasing the diversity and artistry of the LGBTQIA+ community, and to dispelling misperceptions of our community’s gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender, queer, intersex, and asexual people through education, leadership, and outreach.
