Linda Tedford to step down as Artistic Director and Conductor at the end of 2025-2026 season

Linda Tedford, Artistic Director, Founder, and Conductor of the Susquehanna Chorale, Hershey, PA will step down from her position at the end of the 2025-2026 season after 45 years.  Ms. Tedford's distinguished leadership of one of central Pennsylvania's premier choral ensembles has won national recognition.

Founded in 1981, the Susquehanna Chorale is an auditioned volunteer choir of adults comprising some of the region's most accomplished singers. It is recognized for its dedication to the artistic and expressive performance of a diverse repertoire. The ensemble has consistently inspired and enriched concertgoers with meticulously crafted and moving programs, which have become a hallmark of Tedford’s creative approach.

Tedford, a lifelong educator and mentor, established the Chorale’s Educational Outreach Program in 1989. This program, currently involving over 100 student singers provides a unique opportunity for students to experience choral music at its highest quality. The annual Youth Choral Festival in November stands as a testament to Tedford's vision and commitment to excellence.

In addition to her role with the Susquehanna Chorale, Ms. Tedford is Professor Emeritus, Director of Choral Activities at Messiah University, where she served for 24 years.

Tedford has received numerous accolades, including the Elaine Brown Award for lifelong commitment to excellence and leadership in the choral art from the American Choral Directors Association of Pennsylvania, and Theatre Harrisburg’s Award for Distinguished Service to the Arts in the Capital Region. Ms. Tedford and the Chorale were honored with Chorus America’s most prestigious recognition, the Margaret Hillis Achievement Award for Choral Excellence.
