The Girl Choir of South Florida Announces New Executive Director

The Girl Choir of South Florida (GCSF) is pleased to announce that its 2013-2014 season will begin on a high note by naming Anne E. Sallee as its new Executive Director. Ms. Sallee brings over 20 years of experience in outreach, corporate environments, fundraising, governance, and community service to the Girl Choir.

“We are all thrilled to have Anne join the Girl Choir of South Florida family,” said Allen Giese, President of the GCSF Board of Trustees. “With her outstanding leadership track record, her strong ties to the community, and her creativity, I believe Anne is exactly what the Girl Choir needs in an Executive Director. She is eager and excited about the fundraising potential for the Girl Choir, and she will continue the artistic excellence and high level of learning that the Girl Choir has become known for. The entire Board of Trustees and I look forward to working closely with Anne as she furthers the Girl Choir mission and takes the Girl Choir to new heights.”

“The GCSF is well-known locally and nationally for outstanding performances and an exceptional music education program,” said Artistic Director Wallis Peterson. “We are truly dedicated to transforming girls’ lives through musical excellence. Like virtually all non-profits, though — especially performing-arts organizations — we are constantly challenged to manage and financially support the administrative functions so vital to the choir’s ongoing development. I am very much looking forward to working closely with Anne to continue to expand the Girl Choir’s ability to serve our community.”

“The Girl Choir enriches the fabric of our life in South Florida through the diversity of its performances and captivating presentations,” said Ms. Sallee. “The organization’s artistic excellence and its mission to serve the community are unparalleled, and I look forward to working closely with Wallis Peterson as I take the administrative helm.  I am honored to become part of the Girl Choir family, and I welcome the opportunity to help the Girl Choir of South Florida continue to blossom and grow.”

Ms. Sallee has a wealth of experience as a leader in government, community, performing arts, and business development.  She served a four-year term as Commissioner and Mayor of the City of Oakland Park, for which she was named a “Person to Know” by the Broward New Times.  Her resourceful energy, development, and strategic planning efforts on behalf of a number of nonprofit organizations including Broward Meals on Wheels, Oakland Park Kiwanis, and the Fort Lauderdale Woman’s Club have advanced their positive impact in the community. She served in various roles with local performance groups such as The Royal Chessmen and the Cooper City High School Theatre Ensemble. She was previously employed as a Florida Bar Registered Paralegal, and she is a graduate of Boston University’s Program in Artisanry.
