Free Berkshire Choral scholarships for K-12 Music Educators

Berkshire Choral International announces four free scholarships for local K-12 music educators to each of its 2023 summer programs in Seattle, WA and Blacksburg, VA. BCI wants to honor the work and commitment of educators by providing free access to a week of inspiring community singing with our guest conductor, full orchestra, and professional faculty.

In addition to the free commuter registration (valued at $2300-2500), the scholarships include a daily parking pass, a meal plan card for lunch and dinner, all receptions and optional classes, and a voucher for one free voice lesson with a voice faculty member. Scholarship applicants may also attend a complimentary conducting coaching session with Music Director Frank Nemhauser.

Applicants should be active K-12 music educators and live within a 45 minute commute of the venue or be able to provide their own housing within the area. This is a full week commitment with approximately 5 hours of daily rehearsals each morning and evening. Tenor and bass singers are especially encouraged to apply.

The Seattle program is hosted at University of Washington June 18-25 with Dr. Rollo Dilworth conducting Haydn’s Paukenmesse and traditional spirituals. The Blacksburg program is hosted at Virginia Tech July 9-16 with Dr. Jenny Wong conducting Brahms Schicksalslied and Orff’s Carmina Burana.

A simple application must be submitted by April 15, 2023.
