Perry Set to Expand on Seraphim’s History of Brilliant Programming and Nuanced Artistry
Boston, Massachusetts — June 30, 2026
Eric Christopher Perry, vocal artist, conductor, educator, and arts entrepreneur, has been named permanent music director for The Seraphim Singers. He is ideally poised to expand upon Seraphim’s tradition of brilliant programming and nuanced artistry established by founder and music director emerita Jennifer Lester. In Seraphim’s 2025-2026 season Perry served as interim music director, conducting four programs that included major works by Maurice Duruflé and Sergei Rachmaninoff.
Perry has been lauded by The Boston Globe for his “sharp physicality and ringing tenor voice,” and highly regarded for his “indefatigable energy,” "brilliant program curation," and “expert interpretation” on the podium as well as the concert stage. His performances in myriad facets of the vocal arts have been seen across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia, and his critically-acclaimed recordings as a conductor have been heard in over 150 countries worldwide.
In addition to his post with Seraphim, Perry is the artistic director, conductor, and a founding member of Renaissance Men, New England’s professional male vocal chamber ensemble, whose work spans a decade of sold-out performances across the Eastern United States and multiple critically-acclaimed albums. A devoted music educator, Eric Christopher Perry is also currently on voice faculty at Salem State University, where he offers private studio instruction and teaches songwriting.
Seraphim concerts explore diverse composers and varied repertoire, with contemporary works performed alongside timeless gems. The north star that guides programming is the exploration of deeply human themes: longing, protest, suffering, transcendence, hope, and joy. Choral music is used to illuminate and challenge audiences about pressing issues in our world, including homelessness, climate change, social justice, and armed conflicts.
In announcing the appointment to audiences recently, Seraphim’s President and General Manager Daryl Bichel stated: “We are delighted to have engaged this dynamic, creative, and spirited leader and look forward to the coming years with him on the podium. He is aligned with our organization’s history and mission, and highly regarded by our singers and board members alike. We celebrate this appointment and are excited about our future together.”
