The City Choir of Washington Welcomes Its New Executive Director, Tonya McBride Robles

On October 1, 2013, Tonya McBride Robles became the new Executive Director of The City Choir of Washington. The City Choir is delighted to welcome Tonya as part of its choral family.

Ms. Robles is an arts administrator and music educator with two decades of worldwide experience. She has successfully led nonprofit organizations in operations, marketing, development, and public relations, and has served as the Executive Director at the Annapolis (MD) Symphony Orchestra, as well as the Managing Director of The Metropolitan Chorus (Arlington, VA) and the Ocean Park (ME) Association. Tonya headed the Education Department at the Baltimore (MD) Symphony Orchestra during a period of significant growth and served in a similar capacity for the San Antonio (TX) Symphony.

In Department of Defense Dependents Schools postings in Spain and Japan, as well as at the British School Quito in Ecuador, Tonya shared her passion for bringing classical music to students of all ages in the general music classroom. She received a Bachelor of Music Education degree and Performer's Certificate in Voice from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University, and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Maryland University College European Division. Tonya resides in Baltimore with her husband, Commander Michael Robles, and 11-year-old son, Samuel.

Ms. Robles succeeds Ann Stahmer, who is leaving TCCW after six years to become the Chief Operations Officer of the World Pianist Invitational.
