Cincinnati Children’s Choir Announces Jason McKee accepts Associate Director Position with the Cincinnati Young Men’s Chorus

The Cincinnati Children’s Choir is pleased to announce that Jason McKee has accepted the position of Associate Director of the Cincinnati Young Men's Chorus – a chorus within the Cincinnati Children’s Choir for young men with changing and changed voices.

 

Born and raised in Greater Cincinnati, Jason completed his undergraduate studies in music education at Northern Kentucky University where he was named a Dean’s Scholar.  While at NKU, he performed with the Chamber Choir and Vocal Jazz Ensemble under Dr. Randy Pennington and studied voice with Gayle Grout.  In 1999, he participated in the Kentucky Institute for International Studies program in Salzburg, Austria and toured Great Britain in 2000 with the NKU Chamber Choir.  He is currently completing graduate coursework toward a Master of Music in Music Education from Miami University in Oxford, OH.

 

Jason currently serves as director of choirs at Highlands High School in Fort Thomas, Kentucky.  He previously taught at the Finneytown Secondary Campus for 10 years, where he conducted 6 choral ensembles from grades 7-12 in his role as choir director.  High school and middle school choirs under his direction regularly received Superior ratings at both district and state Ohio Music Education Association Adjudicated Events.  Jason has also directed the Chancel Choir at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Delhi since 2007.

 

Jason is a member of the Kentucky Music Educators Association, the National Association for Music Education, and the American Choral Directors Association.  He was elected OMEA District 14 Secretary-Treasurer from 2008-2010, and he has served on ACDA Central Division conference planning committees since 2006.

 

Mr. McKee was preceded by Christopher Shortt who had been with the Cincinnati Children’s Choir since 2009.  Mr. Shortt recently accepted a position as a Doctoral Student in Music Education in Miami, Florida.
