Toronto Mendelssohn Choir’s Choral Conductors’ Symposium is returning in February 2022 under the leadership of the TMC’s new artistic director Jean-Sébastien Vallée. Jean-Sébastien is also Associate Professor of Music, Director of Choral Studies, and Coordinator of the Ensembles & Conducting Area at the Schulich School of Music of McGill University.

In February, Jean-Sébastien will lead a small group of emerging conductors in workshops on repertoire and conducting techniques, and guide them as they conduct the full TMC and its 20-voice professional core in some challenging repertoire. New this year - conductors can choose to apply to be active conductors which includes extensive podium time, or observing conductors who participate in all sessions but do not have any podium time.

The Symposium will run from February 1st to 5th – and it will conclude with a free community concert that will also be webcast live. The deadline to apply is November 15th

The Symposium webpage – which includes a link to the application form – is here.
