The Board of Directors of Children’s Chorus of Maryland (CCM) is proud to announce that David Bielenberg has been appointed Executive Director, effective July 5th. David brings more than 20 years of experience to the organization and will pave a bright future for the 47 year-old chorus. David’s commitment to music and the arts has inspired his career as an arts administrator and advocate for the arts.

Most recently, David served as Executive Director of the Philadelphia Gay Men’s Chorus (PGMC), where he managed all administrative operations of the 100+ member community chorus. During his tenue at PGMC, which coincided with the COVID pandemic, he secured significant COVID-relief funding, as well as individual, corporate and foundation support, achieving financial surpluses each year, and growing the organization’s net assets by more than 300% in three years.

From 2007-2011, David also served as Executive Director of the Station North Arts & Entertainment District in the heart of Baltimore City, during which Station North was recognized by the State of Maryland’s Department of Business and Economic Development with an Arts & Entertainment District Outstanding Achievement Award.

Jeanine Christian, CCM’s Board President, is thrilled with the appointment.  “With David's vast experience leading multiple choral arts organizations combined with his personal and professional passion for music, his strong track record of fundraising, and his kind heart, Children’s Chorus of Maryland will to continue to thrive and grow for years to come.”

A native of Baltimore, and life-long singer, David began his musical training as a boy chorister at St. David’s Episcopal church in Baltimore, under the direction of Randy Mullin.  David went on to earn a Bachelor of Music degree from NYU and a Master of Arts in Arts Administration degree from Goucher College.

David said “I couldn’t be more excited to come home to Baltimore to help lead CCM as it builds on a strong history of excellence in music education and performance for children.”

David succeeds Andrea Burgoyne as she retires after 29 years of distinguished service.
