Monica Bertrand

Monica Bertrand is the Director of Choirs at St. Charles East High School in St Charles, Illinois. This position oversees seven choral classes, four concert ensembles, and three vocal jazz ensembles. Previously, Monica served as the Director of Choirs at Plainfield North High School in Plainfield, Illinois, for three years and Zion-Benton Township High School in Zion, Illinois, for three years. At both schools, she was awarded honors for her excellence in choral education. She received an M.M. in Choral Conducting from Simpson College, an M.M. in Music Education from Western Illinois University, and a B.A. in Music Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, Illinois. Monica was also the associate conductor for Anima Young Singers in Glen Ellyn, Illinois. Monica is an Illinois Music Education Association member and serves as the District 9 vocal jazz co-representative. She is also a proud member of the American Choral Directors Association, serving on the Illinois board as the Senior High School Choir and Repertoire specific chair. Monica was awarded the 2022 IL-ACDA Outstanding Young Choral Directors Award. When she is not teaching, she enjoys traveling, hosting games nights, and spending time with her family, fiancé Dennis Lynn, and her puppy Blanche.
