Maren L. Amdal

Maren Amdal is a seasoned leader whose career with nonprofits began with museums, professional associations, and with choral arts organizations, including Calliope Women’s Chorus where she served as both Artistic and Executive Director for six years. From 2008-2016, Amdal worked with CFA societies around the world, first as Executive Director for CFA Minnesota, later adding consulting work with regional societies as diverse as Houston, New York, and Beijing and ultimately assuming leadership of CFA San Francisco. Working as an executive consultant, including with San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus, she recently accepted the role of Executive Director at Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Through work with dozens of organizations, as board member, staff, and consultant, she enjoys collaborating with senior professionals across numerous industries. An accomplished musician and speaker, Amdal has extensive on-stage experience, and has worked with arts, social justice, education, and nonprofits to develop purposeful organizational plans and mission-focused strategies.

In addition to holding an AA in Vocal Performance and a BA in Marketing, Amdal earned the Claritas™ Investment Certificate from CFA Institute, and is a member of CalSAE and American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) through which she maintains the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation. She recently completed her MSc in Strategic Planning at Edinburgh Business School, Herriot Watt University in Scottland, UK. She lives in a magical house with a beautiful garden on the San Francisco Bay alongside her multi-generational family and loves solving real-world puzzles while encouraging social change through her work.
