Jeffrey Parola

Jeffrey Parola is an organist, conductor, and vocalist. A composer of numerous orchestral, chamber, and choral/vocal works, Parola's music is varied and eclectic, classically grounded and informed by American popular and experimental idioms. His choral works traverse a dynamic terrain, as demonstrated in soulful and ethereal works, like Sempiterna, a 25 minute pseudo Requiem based on universal themes drawn from the Book of Psalms; dramatic and theatrical works, exemplified in the musical-oratorio hybrid work, Such Beautiful Things (Tony Asaro, librettist); and razor-sharp, avant garde works, like this view of life for string quartet and mixed chorus, which sets the lyrical last sentence of Charles Darwin’s On the Origin of Species. Jeffrey’s works have been commissioned and performed around the world, and his goal as a composer is to write music that is meaningful, challenging, and interesting for performers and audiences alike.
