Wendy Moy

Dr. Wendy K. Moy is the Co-Artistic Director/Co-Founder of Chorosynthesis Singers and Assistant Professor of Music Education at Syracuse University, where she teaches rehearsal techniques, choral literature, conducting, and directs the treble chorus. Under her co-direction, Chorosynthesis Singers released Empowering Silenced Voices, a 2-CD collection of new socially conscious music, and established the ESV Database for Socially Conscious Choral Music. In 2018, Chorosynthesis Singers was named the 2nd place winner of The American Prize in Choral Performance, professional division, with a special citation for Extraordinary Commitment to New Music. Before moving to New York, Moy was the Director of the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Chorus and the Artistic Director of the Hartford Gay Men’s Chorus. Moy is frequently sought as a guest conductor and clinician and made her international conducting debut in Brazil in 2017. Active as a soprano, she sings with 21V and Chorosynthesis Singers.

 

Oxford University Press recently published Moy’s ethnographic study of the Seattle Men's Chorus in the book, Together in Music: Coordination, Expression, Participation. She has presented on the SMC and fostering equity, diversity, inclusion, and culture through socially conscious music at national conferences sponsored by the National Association for Music Education, American Choral Directors Association, Chorus America, Society for Education, Music and Psychology Research, and College Music Society. Moy serves as Co-Chair of Research for NY ACDA and on the ACDA Standing Committee for International Activities.
