Mrs. Smith is founding member of Acappellago and has served as its president from its inception in 2002. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in interior design from Columbia College Chicago and has been working as a spec writer and project manager at Mobilia Designs in Wood since 1993. She has previously served on the board of the Downers Grove Choral Society and served as their orchestra manager for three years. She has served on the board of trustees of the Stickney/Forest View Public Library.
As a singer, Mrs. Smith has sung at a variety of area churches, as well as with the Downers Grove Choral Society, Rockefeller Chapel Choir at the University of Chicago, the Heritage Chorale, and Acappellago. As a soloist, she has sung in the Mozart Solemn Vespers of the Confessor, the Chicago area premiere of Paul Crabtree’s Five Bird Songs, the Brahms Neue Libeslieder, the Schubert Mass in G, Hugo Distler’s The Christmas Story, and the Chicago area premiere of Rick Sowash’s chamber work Along the River for clarinet, flute and soprano. She recently presented her rollicking version of “What a Movie” from Trouble in Tahiti at a Bernstein 100th birthday tribute.
