Matthew Greenberg

Matthew Greenberg has served as Chicago a cappella’s executive director for 23 seasons. He has led the organization’s growth from a founder-based startup to a well-recognized and respected arts organization with broad community support, a loyal audience base, and a solid infrastructure. Among his key accomplishments are successful subscription drives and marketing campaigns; the development and expansion of individual fundraising and foundation giving; and the production of successful gala events. Over the past four years he has overseen a new multi-year pledge program and an overall increase of 64% in individual giving. Matt has led workshops for Arts Bridge and the Arts and Business Council of Chicago and has served as a panelist for the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs granting programs. He has worked with the Illinois Arts Alliance’s Peer Coaching Circles and Forefront’s Peer Skill Share mentoring program, and served on the executive committee for ChicagoClassicalMusic.org. Matt received his degree in music/business from DePauw University. He worked at the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra and performed with the Santa Fe Desert Chorale prior to launching his career in Chicago. As a singer, Matt was an original ensemble member with Chicago a cappella from the group’s inception in 1993. He has also performed in musical theater and with many of Chicago’s other leading ensembles, including the Chicago Symphony Chorus, Music of the Baroque, William Ferris Chorale, and the Grant Park Chorus.
