Allison McMillan

Allison McMillan has served on several boards that support the expansion and development of the choral art. She is currently a board member of Lorelei Ensemble and the Providence Singers, and has served on the Chorus America board, where she chaired the governance committee.

During 16 years as board president and then executive director, she led the Providence Singers through a period of dramatic board restructuring and organizational growth, expanding community representation on the board, raising an endowment to commission new choral work, securing funds for professional recordings, establishing choral education programs for young singers, and expanding performance opportunities with professional collaborators including the Dave Brubeck Quartet (at the 50th Anniversary Newport Jazz Festival and at Lincoln Center) and the Rhode Island Philharmonic Orchestra. During her tenure, the Providence Singers was one of seven choral organizations selected by the National Endowment for the Arts to present regional American Masterpieces choral festivals. Formerly a fundraiser and information resources director at Brown University, McMillan is a graduate of Brown with a degree in music, winner of its Hope Chatterton Competition in piano performance, and member of the Brown chorus.
