Elizabeth Núñez is the Associate Artistic Director of the award-winning Young People’s Chorus of New York City (YPC), renowned worldwide for its diversity and supreme level of artistic excellence, and the founding artistic director of The SoHarmoniums, an intergenerational community chorus of women from 20 to 80, which performs at major venues throughout New York City. At YPC she created and directs the acclaimed the Cantare chorus and serves as vocal coach for over 400 choristers ranging in age from 8 to 18 in all six YPC divisions; in rehearsals, performances, and for international tours to countries on four continents.
Since joining YPC in 2004, Elizabeth has led its choristers at international choral festivals in Kathaumixw, British Columbia; Llangollen, Wales; and at the Adolf Fredrik Choral Festival in Stockholm, Sweden, where YPC was the first American choir ever invited to participate in this international choral event. At the Golden Gate International Choral Festival, she helped lead YPC to five gold medals. Elizabeth is also the director of the YPC Satellite Schools Program, which every year brings YPC’s unique music education program to more than 1,100 children in New York City public schools. In an effort to provide YPC’s high school girls with life skills and career opportunities, Elizabeth created WIT: Women Inspiring Tomorrow, a mentoring initiative that brings choristers and alumnae together with accomplished women across varying professions.
