Diane Linn received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and has enjoyed a 35-year career in the arts, arts management, and arts education. An experienced choral singer, she was manager of Detroit’s Fort Street Chorale for five years, assisting in the chorale’s growth from 15 singers to a renowned ensemble of more than 100, garnering national publicity from a PBS documentary. Diane also served as director of Detroit’s legendary Scarab Club, dedicated to promoting the arts in Michigan.
In addition to presenting at numerous conferences, both regional and national, she has taught at Wayne State University and the College for Creative Studies in Detroit. She was named “Outstanding Teacher” in Michigan by MetroParent magazine and several of Michigan’s leading corporations, and has been listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers. Diane has received local, national, and international acclaim for her work in education and the arts, including numerous awards and articles in publications worldwide. Speaking highlights in 2016 include being a presenter at the Chorus America conference and being a guest lecturer for the graduate conducting studio at the University of Michigan on the topic of developing the community chorus.
In addition to co-founding and serving as executive director and board president of the Community Chorus of Detroit, which, now in the seventh year of existence, performs with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and will make its second international tour later this year, Diane is the immediate past president of the Detroit Waldorf School board of trustees.
