Wanza Jackson
Wanza Jackson began her career with the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction in 1989. She has held the following positions with the agency: personnel director, deputy warden, religious service administrator, and warden of Warren Correctional Institution. She is currently the warden of Dayton Correctional Institution.
Wanza has a bachelors degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati; a masters degree in criminal justice from Xavier University (Cincinnati); and a doctorate of ministry in theology from Life Christian University. She also obtained national certification as an Ohio Certified Public Manager.
She is a member of various professional organizations, including North American Association of Wardens (NAAWS); American Correctional Association (ACA); Ohio Wardens and Superintendents Association (OWSA); and National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice (NABCJ).
She is past-president of the executive board of the YWCA Butler County and past-executive board member of Xavier University Criminal Justice Department.
Wanza received the prestigious Medgar Evers Awards for her leadership in corrections at the National Conference in Orlando for the National Association of Blacks in Criminal Justice. She also received a proclamation from Warren County Commissioners naming July 30, 2010 as “Dr. Wanza L. Jackson Day” in Warren County for her leadership as warden of Warren Correctional Institution.
