Michael joined The Jewish Foundation team as its Senior Grants Officer in September 2015. His role at the Foundation includes working directly with a number of its grantees, from request inception through the evaluation and impact reporting phase of the grant making process, managing a portfolio of grantees receiving over $7MM annually.
Prior to that, Michael spent 15 years strengthening the Cincinnati arts community in a variety of roles at ArtsWave. During his tenure there, he managed its Projects Grants program and created and ran the BOARDway Bound leadership initiative, during which time he helped to match over 300 volunteers with arts boards for small and mid-sized arts organizations. Michael has served on grants review panels for a variety of funders throughout the tristate, including Cuyahoga Arts & Culture (Cleveland), LexArts (Lexington), CultureWorks (Dayton), the Ohio Arts Council (Columbus) and the Kentucky Arts Council (Frankfort). He has also presented on a variety of topics at numerous local and national conferences, including Americans for the Arts.
Previously, Michael served on a subcommittee of Agenda 360 and the Advisory Board of Media Bridge’s WVQC-LPFM and he currently serves on the C-Change Alumni Lead Committee. For the past 10 years, he has served as a character coach for the Winners Walk Tall program of the Literacy Network of Cincinnati, impacting the lives of hundreds of first graders during his tenure. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from The University of Cincinnati and a Masters in Business Administration from Xavier University. He is an alum of the C-Change Leadership program (Class 1) and the Jewish Nonprofit Leadership Institute (Class 2).
