Founded in 2009, Fermata Town is a Boston-based mixed vocal band and a proud member of CASA's Contemporary A Cappella League (CAL). The Townies have worked hard to make a name for themselves in the a cappella community, recording multiple award-winning albums while also competing and placing in several competitions including the National Harmony Sweepstakes, A Cappella Armageadon, and Boston's Outside the Box festival.
Their debut album, Hold That Thought, was released in 2012 and received four Contemporary A Cappella Recording Award (CARA) nominations in 2013 including a nod for Best Pop/Rock Album. Fermata Town won the CARA for Best CAL Album while receiving the Runner Up honor for Best Pop/Rock Song for their rendition of "Circus.” The group also took home two A Cappella Community Awards (ACA) in 2013, capturing the honor for Best Contemporary A Cappella League group as well as Favorite Breakout/Newcomer. In 2014, Fermata Town won the CARA for Best CAL Song for "Lonely Boy" while also being nominated for Best Jazz Song for their cover of "Twentysomething."
Along the way, Fermata Town has competed in several local and national competitions, earning fans across the country. The Townies competed in the 2013 Boston Harmony Sweepstakes, placing first in the region to earn a spot in the National Harmony Sweepstakes Festival in San Francisco, California. At Nationals, Fermata Town placed third overall, earning the honor for Best Original Song for their tune "Starting Line". During the summer of 2013, the group was named the Champion on the inaugural Outside the Box A Cappella competition in Boston while also being declared the victor of the 2013 Boston Tournament of Talent.
