Laura Belcher is the national director for power2give.org, a national crowdfunding site for the cultural sector launched by the Arts & Science Council of Charlotte, North Carolina in August 2011. Laura managed the design and development of the platform since inception, and became national director, responsible for the expansion of the platform throughout the country, in November 2012. Today, the site is utilized by 24 communities and has raised over $5.3 million to support arts and cultural efforts.
Belcher joined the Arts & Science Council (ASC) in November 2005 as vice president and chief financial officer and was promoted in 2006 to senior vice president, CFO, and chief operating officer. Laura had direct oversight responsibility for ASC’s finances, human resources and technology activities, and indirect oversight for risk management and strategic initiatives before transitioning to lead power2give full time.
Prior to joining ASC, Laura was a strategic consultant for nonprofits and small businesses, focusing on profitability improvement, process redesign and top-line revenue growth, as the owner and founder of Dimensions Advisory Services. She is a graduate of the College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, VA, and a North Carolina CPA.
Laura’s work and her commitment to the community have been recognized by her peers and others as she has been honored as a “Women of Influence” by the Mecklenburg Times (2011), a “CFO of the Year” Finalist (2009), and a “Women in Business” award recipient (2008).
