Joan Jeffri

Joan Jeffri is the director and founder of the Research Center for the Arts and Culture at the National Center for Creative Aging in Washington DC and former director of the graduate program in Arts Administration at Columbia University. She is the author of  Still Kicking, Above Ground, Making Changes: Facilitating the Transition of Dancers to Post-Performance Careers, Changing the Beat: A Study of the Worklife of Jazz Musicians,  Respect for Art: Visual Arts Administration and Management in China and the United States, The Emerging Arts: Management, Survival and Growth, and ArtsMoney: Raising It, Saving It and Earning It. She is also the editor of Information on Artists I, II, III, IV and Artist-Help: The Artist’s Guide to Work-Related Human and Social Services. She serves as director of the Arts Leadership Institute/Arts & Business Council. 

Jeffri is the former executive editor of the Journal of Arts Management and Law. She is on the national task force for artists’ health care and insurance for the National Endowment for the Arts and is the past President of the Board of the International Arts-Medicine Association. She also serves on the Advisory Board for the Cultural Policy and National Data Archive at Princeton University. She has taught and consulted all over the world, including in Brazil, Canada, China, Hong Kong, Hungary, Israel, Japan, Portugal, Qatar, and Russia.
