Choralis

Choralis was founded by artistic director Gretchen Kuhrmann in 2000. Dedicated to artistic and organizational excellence as well as educational outreach, Choralis provides opportunities for area singers to participate in professional-level concerts and musical experiences. The Choralis Foundation currently has six choirs: the 100 person mixed voice adult choir (Choralis), a select vocal chamber ensemble (Echos,) and four youth choirs (Cantus Choirs) for grades Kindergarten through Grade 10. As advocates for both choral masterworks and new compositions, Choralis has commissioned and premiered several pieces by local composers to spotlight Washington area talent and will add international commissions by world-renowned composers to that resumé in the next two seasons. Considered to be one of the top-tier symphonic choral groups in the Washington-metro area, Choralis continues to build a loyal following with its high-quality sound and style.

Choralis Cantus Primo is an advanced-level treble choir made up of singers in grades five and above who have exceptional abilities, including strong sight-reading skills. Cantus Primo performs at least three concerts or other programs each year, often including performances with Choralis or another adult chorus.
