Ben Hall

Ben Hall is director of music, Office of Teaching & Learning, for the District of Columbia Public Schools. Hall defines the music strategy for the district and leads the supports for how music is taught in the classroom through the coordination of professional development offerings, classroom material supplies, maintenance of equipment, and recommendations for scheduling. He also co-chaired the Arts and Humanities Sector Group of the DC Education Compact, which was charged with developing arts standards for the District of Columbia. The Comprehensive Music Plan was developed by Hall in partnership with the Washington Performing Arts Society and guides the strategies for DCPS Music Programs. Hall, formerly a teacher at Bell Multicultural High School, has developed materials to assist musicians, parents, students, teachers, and administrators for two decades. In 2002, he was recognized for outstanding teaching by the Wolf Trap Foundation. As a musician Hall has also performed at numerous venues including the Montreux Jazz Festival and the Kennedy Center for Performing Arts. Hall has a master’s of education from George Washington University and BA in music education from the University of Delaware.
