Ludovic Morlot

Ludovic Morlot, music director of the Seattle Symphony, has established a reputation as one of the leading conductors of his generation. In January 2012, he assumed a second post as chief conductor of La Monnaie/De Munt, one of the most prestigious opera houses in Europe. Morlot established the inaugural presentation of Sonic Evolution, a commissioning project designed by Morlot to feature new works honoring Seattle’s musical heritage. Morlot was the Seiji Ozawa Fellowship Conductor at the Tanglewood Music Center in 2001, and was subsequently appointed the orchestra’s assistant conductor. Morlot served as conductor in residence with the Orchestre National de Lyon under David Robertson from 2002–2004. Trained as a violinist, Morlot studied conducting at the Royal Academy of Music in London and the Royal College of Music as a recipient of the Norman del Mar Conducting Fellowship. He was elected an associate of the Royal Academy of Music in 2007.
