Barbara M. Tagg

Barbara M. Tagg is conductor the SU Women’s Choir and a member of the music education faculty at Syracuse University. Dr. Tagg has presented concerts and workshops in Great Britain, Europe, Canada, Hong Kong and China, as well as for universities and choral organizations throughout the United States. A national leader in children’s choirs, she is Founder and Director Emeritus of the Syracuse Children’s Chorus (SCC), and is a management consultant to children’s choirs in the United States and Canada. Her first book, Before the Singing, was released in March 2013 by Oxford University Press. Dr. Tagg serves as faculty advisor to the A Cappella Council at Syracuse University and the all female a cappella group, The Mandarins. Dr. Tagg served on the national boards of Chorus America and the American Choral Directors Association spanning thirty years. She was artistic director of the Keynote Arts Associates festival in Orlando, FL for seventeen years, and director of the Adirondack Children’s Choir at the Adirondack Festival of American Music for over twenty years. She is a member of Pi Kappa Lambda, Sigma Alpha Iota, holds the Choral Music Experience Artist-Teacher Certificate, and is an honorary member of the Ernst Bacon Foundation.
