Eva Floyd

 
Eva Floyd received her undergraduate degree from Campbellsville University and graduate degrees from the University of Kentucky (Ph.D. in Music Education and Master of Music in Music Education with choral conducting emphasis). She studied secondary choral Kodály pedagogy at the Conservatory of Music at Capital University and earned a diploma in choral conducting from the Liszt Academy’s Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Kecskemét, Hungary.
 
Currently, she is an assistant professor in choral music education at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). In addition to teaching at CCM, Floyd serves on the artistic staff of the Cincinnati Children’s Choir as conductor for the Cincinnati Girl Choir, an advanced chamber ensemble for girls in grades 9-12. Before joining the faculty at CCM, Floyd taught high school choral music in Kentucky and served on the faculty at Western Kentucky University where she was the conductor of the WKU Women’s Choir and co-founder of the Bowling Green-Western Children’s Choir. Floyd was also a teaching assistant at the Kodály Pedagogical Institute of Music in Hungary.
 
She is active as an adjudicator, guest conductor, and clinician. She has conducted honor choirs in Kentucky, Ohio, and Tennessee. Her research interests include musicianship skill development, professional development for the beginning teacher, and motivation factors for choral singing. She has presented her research at local, national, and international conferences including Kentucky and Ohio Music Educators Association state conventions, Organization of American Educators national conference, American Choral Directors regional convention, Society for Music Teacher Education national conference, and various International Music Education Symposia in the US, Poland, Australia, and Greece.
