Session Type
Special Event/Performance
Session Subtype
Breakout Session

The Chorus Management Institute U is a special Conference track for students in choral conducting programs and emerging choral entrepreneurs. Adapted from our Chorus Management Institute, the sessions are designed to complement the artistic foundation of a college or university degree with the basic nonprofit management skills needed for a successful career.

Working in teams during interactive, practical seminars, students learn best practices from seasoned leaders in the field and make valuable professional connections.

Getting Started
Many new conductors have a goal of founding their own chorus – but getting an organization off the ground is not an easy task. This session will walk you through the questions you need to ask before starting a chorus, creating your mission and vision statements and your strategic plan, complying with legal requirements, and knowing and understanding your competition and community.
