Arts-based social prescribing is an evidence-based approach for integrating arts and cultural engagement into the US healthcare system to meet the growing unmet need for mental health services. This session introduces the practice of arts-based social prescribing and walks attendees through the Art Pharmacy care model. Art Pharmacy provides access to creative engagements with health-improving benefits through a network of arts and culture partners already embedded in communities. Attendees will learn about implications this work has for the arts and culture field, how arts-based social prescribing programs can promote access and new audience engagement, and about the economic and financial benefits to arts and cultural partners.
