For many African communities, society is a circle: the individual exists within the shared humanity of the group and prizes being a member of the group above their individual achievements. This is ubuntu, a practice some of us have knowingly or unknowingly already created in our choral rehearsal spaces. Come join the circle of sharing, as we explore how ubuntu has influenced the South African choral landscape, and what an ubuntu mindset could look like for our singing communities in the United States and Canada.
