Imagining Your Chorus Without You: Perspectives on Succession Planning

Date Range
-
Session Type
Session

Choruses are founded and led by some combination of charismatic conductors, visionary executive directors, energetic board members, and enthusiastic volunteers. Since nobody lives forever, the probability of any one of these key people rotating out of the choir’s life at some point is 100%. It takes a combination of foresight, concrete planning, and humble pie to see a future for your chorus that doesn’t have you at the center, and the best time to start that process is today. This lively conversation encourages you to think boldly about your role – and to imagine what it might look like to let go of some previously unquestioned organizational beliefs or customs (sooner rather than later) for the long-term benefit of your chorus.
