Brooklyn Youth Chorus is seeking a full-time Production and Events Manager to join its vibrant and vital team. The ideal candidate will be an experienced, collaborative producer with the ability to see the big picture while executing productions in a highly organized, and detail-oriented manner. This individual will manage and execute all self-produced and contracted performances, tours, and performance events. 



The Production and Events Manager will report to the Chief Operating Officer, work in close collaboration with the  Founder & Artistic Director and Men’s Ensemble Conductor, School Administrator, and performing ensemble Chorus Managers. The Production and Events Manager will hire and oversee project-specific, part-time staff for major, self-produced productions and events.



Brooklyn Youth Chorus is an award-winning city-wide music education and vocal performance program for children ages 7-18 of all levels of experience.  As a collective of young singers and vocal ensembles, Brooklyn Youth Chorus is reimagining choral music performance through artistic innovation, collaboration, and an incredibly versatile range and repertoire. The Chorus’s multi-level training program draws students from across the five boroughs and combines intensive voice training and musicianship study with exceptional performance experiences. Children of diverse backgrounds come to the Chorus to share their love singing, make new friends, and achieve and surpass their musical goals. Brooklyn Youth Chorus believes every voice matters and is committed to building and sustaining a diverse and inclusive community based on respect for each individual and an appreciation of our differences. To ensure access to all students, regardless of background or financial circumstances, the Chorus provides broad financial support for both chorus and elective music program tuition. Founded in 1992 by Artistic Director Dianne Berkun Menaker, Brooklyn Youth Chorus has served over 10,000 students over its thirty-year history with hundreds enrolling each year in its core after-school and public school outreach programs. Classes take place in Brooklyn at their Cobble Hill headquarters and neighborhood locations in Bedford-Stuyvesant, Carroll Gardens,and Brooklyn Heights.




The Production and Events Manager will:



  • Produce annual all-school concerts, Holiday Harmonies in December and Spring Sings in May and performance components of annual spring gala and other fundraising and cultivation events.

  • Manage and execute all self-produced creative/commissioning projects and performances. Past projects have included Black Mountain Songs, Silent Voices, and She Is Called at venues such as The New Victory Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM), and National Sawdust.

  • Coordinate and execute 15-20 contracted performances and recordings a year with partners such as Bang on A Can, The Knights, the New York Philharmonic, Anthony Roth Costanzo, Lara Downes, Bon Iver, and Park Avenue Armory.

  • Field all incoming inquiries for performances and recording opportunities and tours.


Albums and Tours:

  • Line produce and coordinate all aspects of album recordings including setting up recording sessions for chorus and instrumentalists, working with Artistic Director, producer and sound engineer on post production editing, mixing, and mastering, and coordinating with record company and marketing team to get album released.

  • Plan, organize, and execute domestic and international tours for Performing Ensembles including production, transportation, housing, meals, and other company management elements. 



  • Negotiate and manage the contracting process with all potential performance clients.

  • Research and contract venues for self-produced performances and, when necessary, for production-related rehearsals.

  • Together with Chief Operating Officer, negotiate and manage contracts for commissions, musician-hires, and other creative personnel.

  • Hire, contract, and manage production and event vendors, consultants, temporary staff, and venues. 


Production Administration:

  • Create and set budgets for all productions and events in close collaboration with the Chief Operating Officer.

  • Manage production expenses to adhere to set budgets.

  • Reconcile financials on both a monthly and project basis.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the Artistic, Program, Marketing, and Finance departments to ensure successful execution of all events.



  • Belief in the mission and core values of Brooklyn Youth Chorus 

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant production/operations and event planning experience

  • Demonstrated ability to drive, project-manage, and execute multiple projects simultaneously both proactively and with great attention to detail 

  • Strong communicator and collaborator

  • Comfort and competency with contracts, budgets, and spreadsheets

  • Ability to work some nights and weekends

  • Basic sound engineering knowledge a plus

  • Background in the performing arts and/or non profit organizations is preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher or commensurate experience

Compensation and Benefits: 

$55,000-65,000 commensurate with experience. Excellent benefits offered, including generous vacation package, medical, dental, and vision insurance.
