The Long Beach Youth Chorus was founded in 2017 with the mission to develop the appreciation of choral music and musical talent among young people from diverse backgrounds in a mutually supportive environment. The organization’s vision is to be a diverse multi-chorus organization that provides every child in the region the opportunity to perform in a choir and gives them the life-changing skills that choral singing can develop.
We are seeking an Operations Manager for our growing organization who can support the Artistic Director and administrative staff in bringing energy, excitement and a passion for choral music to our singers, their families and the community.
Essential Functions And Responsibilities
Vision - Support the artistic vision for all ensembles and programs within the Long Beach Youth Chorus as directed by the Artistic Director and serve as the director for the Young Musicians’ Program (grades 2-4).
Excellence - Support excellent standards of choral musicianship for all ensembles and programs within the Long Beach Youth Chorus.
Administrative Support - Provide administrative support to the Artistic Director: manage logistical communication with Long Beach Youth Chorus singers and families, including the Weekly Word, and acting as Operations Manager as needed for concerts and events such as the Summer Arts Institute and the Family Arts Festival.
Rehearsals - Assist in the set up/tear down and administrative duties for each rehearsal during the season on Sundays from 3:30-5:30PM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Long Beach—such duties may include, but are not limited to attendance, parent questions, music folder maintenance, etc.
Growth - Strategize innovative ways to increase the enrollment and impact of the Long Beach Youth Chorus across the region. Nurture the close-knit and familial community of Long Beach Youth Chorus singers.
Performances - In conjunction with the Artistic Director, coordinate performance and rehearsal schedules for Long Beach Youth Chorus and the Young Musicians’ Program. Engage and communicate with performance and rehearsal venues as needed.
Parent Engagement/Liaison/Communications - Maintain regular communication with parents, coordinate and train parent volunteers as needed, serve as the primary liaison between LBYC staff and Young Musicians’ program families, and respond to inter-organization communications quickly and efficiently through Remind and/or email as per the communications expectations of the organization.
Advocacy - Be a part of public events, fundraising activities and be a good advocate for the organization. Meetings - Attend staff meetings as called by the Executive Director, or board meetings if requested by the Board of Directors.

Measurable experience working with and coordinating logistics and communication for non-profit organizations and/or choral ensembles/programs
Bachelor's Degree preferred
A successful candidate for this position can demonstrate the following:
Proficiency with online organizational and communication platforms such as GSuite, Asana, Slack, MailChimp, etc.
Coordinate and/or stage manage performances, including but not limited to creating cue-to-cue sheets, tech sheets, etc.
Prompt and effective communication skills
Effective interpersonal skills when working with both parents and children
