Assistant Professor – Tenure Track – Choral/Music
Viterbo University's Conservatory for the Performing Arts invites applications for a tenure-track, Assistant Professor of Music beginning August 2021. Primary responsibilities include: conducting Concert Choir, 9th Street Singers, and Rose Chorale in addition to teaching other courses as assigned; this could include: applied voice lessons, advanced conducting, and/or music direction of productions (musicals/operas). The successful candidate will also develop the department's choral activities, contribute to tour planning, implement an ensemble recruiting plan, participate in departmental and university service, and maintain an active regional/national professional profile that includes conducting, clinics, festivals, and similar activities.
This position is part of the newly announced formation of our Conservatory for the Performing Arts' an initiative born of the belief that the world needs artists and storytellers now more than ever. Our goal is to cultivate artists grounded in the liberal arts with a strong sense of self, a commitment to the common good and the skills to succeed at a professional level in the demanding performing arts industry.
Qualifications: Completed Doctorate in Choral Conducting is preferred. A doctorate in progress or ABD will be considered. Collegiate choral conducting and diversified teaching experience is preferred.
Rank and Salary: Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor, tenure track with a nine-month academic year appointment beginning August 2021. Salary is competitive with other private, liberal arts institutions of similar size.
