2022 Conference Plans
Current plans include an online event April 7-8, 2022 to continue accessibility and flexibility, as well as an in-person event in Summer 2022 to take full advantage of networking possibilities and offer additional content. We can’t wait to share more details when we are able, and are excited to reintroduce in-person gathering as part of our Conference structure this coming year!
About our Conference Programming
Our Conference programming draws on the expertise and insights of those working in the choral field, as well as in the arts, education, and general nonprofit sectors. The Conference is designed to address the current moment and to facilitate skill-building, collaboration, exploration, and connections on multiple levels.
We program sessions across a variety of artistic and administrative topics, with focuses on access, diversity, equity, and inclusion in the choral field and on innovation, relevance, rediscovering hope and joy, and personal and chorus health in the face of COVID. Topics include governance and board engagement, fundraising, marketing and audience development, conducting and programming, finance and budgeting, technology and virtual engagement, and children and youth-related topics. Our goal is to work with a diverse group of Conference speakers that represent different demographics, geographic locations, organization sizes, and points of view.
We are particularly interested in sessions that engage attendees in unique ways that reach beyond the standard presenter/Powerpoint model. Sessions are 1 hour long and formats may include but are not limited to:
- Panel Discussion: present an issue or trend as a conversation among experts followed by Q&A
- Case Study: describe a program or project in-depth, focusing on innovative solutions to clearly defined challenges and their implications for the field
- Workshop: encourage participants to use progressional skills to explore a scenario and to teach and learn new tactics
Sessions may be presented live or may be pre-recorded and submitted in advance.
If you are submitting multiple proposals for review, please fill out this form for each proposed session.
Call for Question, Topic, and Speaker Suggestions for Summer 2022
We are also inviting suggestions for questions or topics that you would like our Summer 2022 Conference to explore, and speakers that you would like to see at the event. Please email your suggestions to [email protected].
Once the call for sessions closes, Chorus America's staff and board will review the submissions. As sessions are developed, a staff member will be in touch with all applicants to inform them of their proposal's status. Please note: we may contact presenters who have submitted similar session proposals to explore whether they are willing to collaborate.
Submissions will be reviewed based on
- Session format, design, and creativity
- Presenter expertise and experience with topic
- Clarity of message
- Relevance to current issues and conversations happening in the field
Selected sessions will receive a presenting slot, audio/visual support, and will be included in Chorus America's Conference materials. Conference speakers are offered a complimentary registration to both our online event in April and in-person event this summer to thank them for being part of Conference programming.
